Matthew Kim’s path to CEO of an emerging health-tech holding company didn’t take the traditional route. There was no Ivy League school, no stint at an international consulting firm, and no VC funding to fuel SureCo’s growth. Instead, Matthew and his fellow co-founders bootstrapped this Great Place to Work-Certified® and Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Private Company through grit, determination, and continuous innovation.
A serial entrepreneur since cutting his teeth in insurance sales at HealthMarkets Inc, a Blackstone Group company, Matthew built and led his own health care agencies before transforming this current iteration of SureCo into a health-tech play set on saving America’s broken healthcare ecosystem. Matthew is a member of YPO Pacific One Chapter and was recently selected to the On Deck Scale Fellowship.
As he continues to evolve SureCo’s revenue model from traditional services to software, Matthew enjoys reading, music, golf, and spending time with his wife, family, and friends. He likes to say SureCo’s secret to growth is good people from unconventional backgrounds, doing unconventional things, and finding success in unconventional ways. His biggest piece of career advice for young professionals wanting to lead their own companies someday — learn to sell.

Matt Christopherson, one of SureCo’s founders, manages all of sales. He has owned three businesses, including an internet service provider sales company and a toner sales company, which is where he met Matt Kim. After leaving toner sales, he founded Bayside Insurance with Matt Kim, which is now the SureCo we know today.
Matt is proud to say that his greatest accomplishment in life is becoming a dad and learning how to be a better father every day. He is an involved family man with his wife, two daughters, four sisters, two sister-in-laws … and no boys! However, Matt admits that he was lucky to have found his brothers later in life, Matt Kim and Marc Bablot!
Matt’s second proudest accomplishment is this business, SureCo. When he first began, he never imagined it would become what it is today. He’s overjoyed to have witnessed the growth of everyone involved. Matt claims that his business partners and his wife have inspired and influenced him the most.

After the mortgage crises of 2007, he decided to take a stab at insurance where he teamed up with Matt K. and Matt C., the rest was history!
Marc is proud to say that his greatest accomplishment professionally is this incredible company, SureCo. His proudest personal accomplishment raising his 3 kids with his wonderful wife Tracie. One of his favorite experiences is coaching his children’s sports teams.
Throughout his career, Marc has learned that the best way to grow is to not be afraid to fail. He explains that some of his greatest failures as a person have resulted in outstanding growth professionally and personally. Marc’s biggest piece of advice to those still finding their career is to take risks, try something new, and get out of your comfort zone.
